What drinks are allowed during the Dukan Diet?

All types of water (including sparkling, as long as they don’t contain too much sodium or added sugar like in the case of some flavoured waters), tea, herbal teas, green tea, coffee, skimmed milk and any diet drink with less than 1 calorie per glass such as Coke Zero.

How much water should I drink during the plan?

Drinking at least one and half litre of water is an essential requirement of the Dukan Diet.

Should I drink bottled low sodium water during the Dukan Diet?

Bottled low sodium waters such as Evian, Volvic and Highland Spring are a great option, especially during the Attack Phase and any periods of weight stagnation. However, according to the official book, drinking low sodium mineral water is not an essential requirement and if you are used to drinking tap water you can safely continue to do so as long as you stick to at least one and half litre everyday.

Is it ok to drink tap water during the Dukan plan?

Yes – bottled low sodium waters such as Evian and Volvic are preferred, however Doctor Dukan confirms in his book that it’s perfectly fine to have tap water too.

Are you allowed tea and coffee during the Dukan Diet?

Yes – tea and coffee can be enjoyed during any phase of the Dukan Diet but if you normally take milk and sugar make sure you switch to sweetener and skimmed milk.

Are you allowed to drink fruit juice while following the plan?

No – fruit juice is amongst the drinks which are not allowed during the Dukan Diet due to their sugar content.

Is any alcohol allowed during the Dukan Diet?

No – any type of alcoholic drinks is to be avoided during the plan. However, you can use small amounts for cooking.

Can I drink milk during the Dukan Diet?

Yes – as long as it’s skimmed milk. You can also have soy milk but this is only a tolerated food and you’re only allowed a maximum of 1 glass per day.

Can I still take milk with my tea or coffee?

Yes – as long as it’s skimmed.

Is soy milk allowed on the Dukan Diet?

If you have vegetarian or are intolerant to dairy products, you can have soy milk in moderate amounts. Alternatively, you can still have soy milk but, according to a live chat session, you should stick to a maximum of 1 glass per day as this is only a tolerated food.

How can I sweeten my drinks during the Dukan Diet?

Aspartame is the recommended sweetener you can use during all stages of the plan.

Is cordial/squash allowed during the Dukan Diet?

No – cordial/squash is to be avoided during all stages of the plan.

Am I allowed to drink green tea during the Dukan Diet?

Yes – green tea is a great option during any stage of the plan. The only recommendation is to stick to aspartame and skimmed milk.
